Waxing Testicles? When Government’s Give Credence to Bollocks!

In England we have a saying for a person or a group who are speaking or acting in a nonsensical and ridiculous way. We call it ‘a load of bollocks’. That expression was sadly presented in technicolor glory by a government body in British Columbia who are investigating whether beauty salons broke the law because they refused to wax the testicles of a transgender man. Seriously, the government is spending tax-payers money on this investigation because they think the transgender man may have had his human rights violated!

A couple of years back the Canadian Government tried to make it illegal to refuse to call anyone by the pronoun they preferred. Now any reasonable and polite person will call he or she ‘they’ if that is their wish. But to be compelled to do so as a matter of law is as simple example of a government curtailing free speech as you can find.
Yet, in a further example of the slippery slope and the law of unintended consequences, The British Columbia Human rights Tribunal is giving serious consideration to punishing women who refused to remove the hair from the testicles of a transgender woman - a male who dresses and identifies as a woman, and likes sleeping with them too. A male lesbian, who still has his penis, and insists that female beauty therapists should wax his testes because he doesn’t like hairy balls. If they refuse to do so, then they are “illegally discriminating” against him and acting “contrary to his human rights”.
Already one beautician has settled out of court to avoid the hassle, and another has gone out of business altogether.
Wait, it gets worse! A journalist who revealed the name of this ‘person’ (Jonathan/Jessica Yaniv) was removed from Twitter for referring to him as a ‘man’ rather than his preferred pronoun of ‘she’. Worse still, it turns out that Jonathan/Jessica has applied for a license to hold private “topless swims for children and adults who are 12 or older and identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer/Questioning, Two Spirit (LGBTQ2S+)…..and their parents will not be allowed to attend.
As a species and as a society we have a lot to grapple with when it comes to sexual/gender identity. While sex is defined genetically and 99.9005% are born biologically male or female, about 1 in every 2000 people are born ‘intersex’. It is therefore reasonable for the average person in the street to recognize that, biologically at least, a significant number of people do not meet either definition of male or female. That’s about 164,000 people in the US, 34,000 in the UK and 19,000 in Canada.
Of those that feel female but have male genitalia, it seems reasonable that they should be able to have their balls waxed if that is their peccadillo. Indeed, some of the men born with XY chromosomes and who identify as such like to have ‘Brazilians’ on their balls. There are specialized classes training people how to do that! It’s a free country and if there are people prepared to train and provide such specialized services, they should be allowed to do so and their customers should not have the balls broken for seeking out such services.
But to use this as an issue to claim a violation of human rights is surely a step too far for any reasonable and fair-minded person, let alone a tax payor funded government agency.
Surely the real culprit here is the Government. It is clear that Jonathan or Jessica is another example of Andy Warhol’s rather prescient and sadly true 1968 observation that "In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes". To demean the many examples of real human rights abuses by investing time, money and credibility in such a frivolous investigation, when the only real victim is a fame seeking narcissist, is the perfect metaphor for absurdity.
The rules against discrimination on the grounds of race, creed or gender are well intended and generally well used. However, if ever there was an example of an extreme social terrorist trying to take advantage of the system, and a misguided and virtue-signaling public authority overstepping its mandate, this must be it.
Both parties are guilty of a load of bollocks!
